The Grande-Dixence

The dam of Grande-Dixence is the highest dam in concrete of the world. Thirty two kilometers of galleries and wells go through this so wide, concrete mass on its base that the Great pyramid, twice as high, twice as voluminous. Fifty glaciers feed the gigantic network collecting waters until Zermatt.


Do not miss to visit the monumental wooden and concrete church rising among the wooden chalets burned by the sun. The village holds a museum of the crafts, a wood stove and an ancient water mill. The educational farm allows to discover the fauna and the flora of the valley. The pyramids of Euseigne raise with grace their stony hats. Do not forget to have a look at the various hamlets: Riod, Ayer, Prolinen, Lamb's lettuce. Their chapels conceal sometimes baroque, always charming altars.


Discover its (XIIth) Romanic chapel and its wooden and stony church endowed with the magnificent stained glasses of the painter Chavaz. Glance at the (XIIIth) Tower Tavelli, Switzerland's unique octagonal tower. Discover the rural houses, particularly in Les Prasses and in Ypresses. Appreciate the charm of the six chapels of Mayens-de-Sion. The most ancient one date of 1680.

Thyon – Les Collons – Les Masses

You will take advantage of all the benefits of a summer and winter sporting resort there: a vast skiable domain, snowpark, halfpipe, night ski, swimming pool, paragliding, restaurants, tenpin bowlings, discotheques, bars... But you will admire also the high mountain pasture of Thyon, the gouilles (pond) of Essertze, the highest peat bog of the Alps there.
